Topical problems in the study of modern English-language children’s literature

Abstract

This article focuses on the study of modern English-language children’s literature, as well as on the stages of development. The author tries to give a specific definition of children’s literature, by using the definitions of do­mestic, Soviet, Russian and foreign researchers in children’s literature. The history of children’s literature and its contemporary state as an independent science and its main ways of development are investigated in the current article. The article also explores the development of English and American children’s literature and their researchers with major works. There was also an attempt to define the role and influence of English-language children’s literature on Soviet children literature, as well as on separate countries of post-Soviet literature.
