On the main forms of competition nominative units in the language system

Abstract

The article deals with such manifestations of competition nominative
units in the language system, as the variance and the exact words interchangeably. Showing both common and different features of these phenomena.
Competition nominations confirmed by the example of loan words, operating in the Russian language. Borrowings inclusion in the relations of
competition is explained due to the need of their adaptation to the new
conditions of functioning.
Competition of nominative units indicates the changes that have already occurred or will occur in the language. It can be seen not only in a synchronic or diachronic positions, but also from the standpoint of panchrony.
Selection of competing nominations is made from a stylistic or normative
point of view. Strategies for selection may be reflected in the discourse in
the form of metalinguistic comments.
