The use of occasional lexical combinations in the language of poetry

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the mechanism of formation of occasional combinations of lexemes in the language of poetry. Attending to the occasional combinations of lexemes a linguist solves two problems: firstly, he obtains a tool for linguistic analysis that enables to investigate the features of the poetics of a particular author; secondly, as a result of studying the mechanism of the formation of such combinations he can formulate the main trends specifying the factors contributing to their creation, i.e. he can provide specific guidelines for the creation of the analyzed occasional combinations of words that can perform certain stylistic functions. The creative application of knowledge gained as a result of this analysis may be useful not only for votaries of Parnassus, but also for anyone who wants to make his speech richer and more expressive. Thus, the relevance of the topic of this paper is defined as the theoretical importance of studying the formation of the mechanism of occasional lexical compatibility in the language of poetry due to conditionality by the very nature of language, its potential for development, and the practical significance of the use of the findings and results of this study.
