Abstract

The article considers differences of functional and structural grammars. The examples about the concept of function in the article are specified with the help of scientific works of scholars. Functional grammar is formed in the process of speech and it studies the semantics of language units. To disclose the meaning of functionality the article gives the basic notions and determines their distinctions. In modern Kazakh linguistics there are various studies on the functionality of language. However, the number of these works did not reach the number of studies devoted to the developed languages, so there is a need to write scholarly articles on the subject. In this regard, teaching the functional direction of the Kazakh language is very important for its development and learning.
