Abstract

The article describes a strategic approach to communication as well as subsections of speech strategy. The importance of awareness of a common base platform of interlocutors for interaction and implementation of the strategic plan has always been the unifying factor in a variety of linguistic studies on the issue of speech strategies and tactics (communication passages). Components of such platform are recognized as the unity of non-linguistic (encyclopedic) knowledge and understanding, more or less contingency of communicative situation models of each interlocutor, and a set of linguistic knowledge, including language usage knowledge. A common base of knowledge and ideas of interlocutors should include the knowledge of speech strategies and tactics, especially relevant in intercultural communication, because it has ethno-specific features.
