Abstract

The article summarizes the results of studies of controversial speech itemsfunctioning in the sphere of media communications; conceptualizesthe practice of linguistic examinationof delinquent media texts involved in the legal proceedings of cases of protection of honor, dignity, and business reputation, defamation and criminal insult; considers the key concepts and categories of linguistic text examination; describes the common structure of expert examination, i.e. typical questions posed to linguists dealing with cases of the abovementioned categories; addresses the modern techniques of linguisticexamination; describes the methods of extraction, processing and analysis ofcontroversial information in media texts of different types and genres in the interests of linguistic examination.
