To Issue of Studying Eventonims: Problem Statement.

Abstract

In the article issues of defining eventonims as a class of proper names are considered and some problems of their research are set. Among chrononims a class of words which name not only time spans, but also the events which are taking place in this time span, i.e. names of events is allocated. In this regard, emphasis and special interest is given to the specific category of onim lexicon – eventonims which weren't up to date the subject of versatile study in Kazakhstan oonomastics. However at the present time eventonims to a greater or lesser degree are included in a research field in foreign linguistics. The analysis of scientific literature allows to present the generalized definition of this term: eventonim is a name of a certain event (historical, cultural, social). More thorough study of this term and concept which it names, will give a possibility to detail the definition of this term. Another problem – issue of defining onomasiological status of eventonims is closely connected with this problem. Eventonims can play a characterizing, informative role, aren't static, they are subject to changes in connection with social changes, expansion of information space, emergence of new events, etc.
