Lexico-semantic Features in Elchin’s Creativity.

Abstract

The article about the creativity of the Azerbaijani national writer Elchin carries out the linguistic analysis of toponyms. The work of fiction narrates about the stylistic potential of toponyms. Toponyms have to be studied not only in linguistics, but also together with history and geography since the word «toponym» being of Greek origin means topos «place», onoma – «name». Toponyms specify names of the objects connected with the earth. The analysis and research of the place name not only linguistically but also geographically and historically is an important factor. The geographical place, borders, neighboring states, the historical period of the toponym emergence should be considered in the name. Sometimes, while studying some place name it is necessary to know the names of the tribes living in that territory and therefore address to history. The main objective of the research is to study lexical and semantic properties of toponyms in Elchin’s creativity.
