Abstract

The given article discusses the problem of the beautiful being and nature in the novels «The Idiot» by F.M. Dostoyevsky and «The Temple of the Golden Pavilion» by Y. Mishima. The concept of beauty as a multi-valued object is considered on the basis on the given novels. The concept of beauty is given as the primordial basis of the universe through sophiological formula «the beauty will save the world» and the idea of the duality of beauty. The article stresses the continuity of the ideas «beauty will save the world» of Dostoevsky and «beauty is mystery» in the novel «The Temple of the Golden Pavilion» by the Japanese author Yukio Mishima and draws the parallel between the images of Christ and Golden Temple as the absolute of beauty. The novel «The Temple of the Golden Pavilion» is considered as the experiment with the main task to determine the possibility of living without beauty.
