Abstract

The article «Epic «Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan Sulu» in interpretation of the choreographers of Kazakhstan includes interpretation of this epic on Kazakh ballet stage by choreographer DaurenAbirov. His staging at the Abay Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1976 entered the history of Kazakh ballet as the first attempt to interpret the famous Kazakh epic by means of calisthenics. The harmonious combination of classical and Kazakh folk dance enabled the choreographer to create an interesting choreographic language. Construction of dramatic material is one of the advantages of the ballet and at the same time its weak point. The choreographe doesn’t blindly follow the drama, but he selects only those plot vicissitudes without which the work would lose its basic content. At the same time he selects only those facts that may be transmitted by means of choreography. The weakness is the attempt to avoid congestion of the plot by many characters and variety of different motives, which eventually resulted in the sketchy plot.
