The role of socio-linguistic factorsin learning Russian as a second language.

The research paper brings to light the main problems of learning and mastering a second/foreign language. Language policy in Kazakhstan highlights Kazakh language as the state one, but Russian is being continuously used as official, as well as cross-national one. In connection with this, sociolinguistic factors in mastering Russian language given the domination of the titular nation are being considered in the southern regions of the country. Teaching of Russian must pursue the main goal - the formation of ability with trainees to use Russian language as a means of cross-cultural communication under language and cultural diversity, the ability to be included in multilanguage communicative environment as a fully valid member of multicultural society of the country. The results of the sociolinguistic research on learning Russian as a second language are covered. The minimum of universal factors for maximum effect for teaching Russian as a second language are determined, depending on specific goals and conditions, as well as different motivators.Downloads
