The concept of «steppe» in the linguistic science: definition and components

Abstract

The article is devoted to the definition of the concept and its components, in particular the concept of «steppe». It deals with the notion of the concept as a linguocultural and its basic characteristics and attributes are determined. The article provides a brief overview of the work on this issue; it is recognized that linguocultural study is also cognitive. The analysis of linguocultural concepts allows to reveal both basic and hidden deep meanings of the concept, as well as to track changing perceptions of contemporary native speaker of the objective reality, changing its value dominants in a certain era, to analyze mentality peculiarities. The linguocultural concept is defined on the basis of the investigated material. There was made an attempt to analyze the conceptual, figurative and value components of the linguocultural concept «steppe» in the work. The information from the Russian National Corpus and lexicographical sources served as a factual material to illustrate the basic provisions of the article. In the study are used such methods as a descriptive, comparative benchmarking, analysis and synthesis, generalization and systematization, observation, conceptual analysis and etc.
