One of the remarkable figures of literary criticism in Arabic literature was Qudama Ibn Ja'far. More than 20 books dedicated to him has been noted in various sources. However, the most famous book of author on literary criticism was “Naqd al-shi'r” (Book on Poetic Criticism)Qudama's knowledge of the Greek language and showing great interest to ancient Greek philosophy and logic has been noted by a number of authors. The influence of Aristotle's "poetic" was clearly seen in “Naqd al-shi'r”This is the first independent and systematic work dedicated to literary criticism in Arabic literature.Inspired from Aristotle, author enriched the Arabic philology with several new terms and concepts and applied them in Arabic poetry.Scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the author tried not to determine the poem according to traditions and private preferences but in accordance with the philosophical and logical categories.
