Abstract

In this study, the charisma of Sherkhan Murtaza’s linguistic personality is conceptualised as a combination of linguistic, discursive, and pragmatic resources of speech. The aim is to identify the linguistic nature of linguistic-personality charisma from a discourse-based perspective. The analysis shows that, given the communicative potential of a linguistic personality and its capacity to influence the listener, charisma is not merely a psychological or socio-cultural category; rather, it has a systematic linguistic basis manifested in the choice of lexical and syntactic structures, pragmatic strategies, and discursive models. Therefore, the study has scholarly relevance for the development of linguistic personality theory, pragmalinguistics, discourse studies, and theories of speech influence. Its practical value lies in its applicability to courses in rhetoric and public speaking, stylistic and discourse analysis, media and political communication, and leadership practices.

The methodological framework draws on Y.N. Karaulov’s theory of linguistic personality, V.I. Karasik’s concept of discursive personality, as well as pragmatic approaches to speech influence and the rhetorical model of Ethos – Pathos – Logos. Based on the analysis of Sherkhan Murtaza’s authorial discourse, typical linguistic markers of charisma are identified, pragmatic strategies of charismatic speech are described, the linguistic conditioning of charisma is substantiated, and a model of a charismatic linguistic personality is proposed.

The study also examines how the traditionally psychological understanding of charisma is realised through linguistic mechanisms by treating linguistic-personality charisma as an object of linguistic analysis. The linguistic and pragmatic parameters formulated in the conclusions may serve as tools for assessing speech influence in applied research and can be used in developing educational and analytical materials on contemporary speech communication.
