Forms of mythological reconstruction in modern Kazakhstani short stories

Abstract

The article contains a study of various forms of mythological images drawn in modern Kazakhstani short stories. The aim of this research is to study the forms of recreation of mythological images of antiquity and Hinduism. The scientific significance of the work is that the technology presented in it for analyzing mythological images can be useful in the study of new literary phenomena. The practical significance of the work lies in the fact that its conclusion and results can be used to develop a practical course on modern Kazakhstani literature at a higher educational institution. Throughout the course of study, a range of methodological approaches were used, including poetic-structural, mythopoetic, and comparative methods, each of which contributed to comprehensive analysis of the subject matter.  

In the works of contemporary Kazakhs writers such as Salakhitdin Muminov and Raushan Baiguzhaeva, mythological images are recreated to advance the development of the fables and plot, thereby expressing the authors’ ideas. In Salakhitdin Muminov’s story “Ангел ты, Ангел я” (Angel ty, angel ya), the mythological origin is primarily presented through the figure of Hermes, used to depict the morals of modern people.   In Raushan Baiguzhaeva’s story “Антарьямин” (Antaryamin), the mythological elements are portrayed in much greater depth than in Salakhitdin Muminov’s work.  The story of the Kazakh writer depicts a group of major Hindu gods, with which the illustrates the images of literary heroes, explaining their intellectual development, character formation, and behavioral traits.
