Identify problems of the semantics of the proper name.

Abstract

In the article various points of view on a problem of detection of semantics of the proper name on the material of various languages are considered. In modern linguistics there are different views on a question of meaning and semantics of name: from the structural and language content of proper name "reduced" or weakened meaning of proper name, encyclopedic meaning to a complete negation of meaning of proper name. This problem constantly receives new impulses for reflection while addressing earlier not studied or poorly studied names, specific categories and types of proper names, languages of different typology and genealogy. The language facts and phenomena are so various and multidimensional that they hardly meet a strict logical framework, they try to break the stereotypes all time, to go beyond taxonomy, to show the uniqueness. But it doesn't mean that it is impossible to understand the semantic nature of proper names. Each following judgment of this problem becomes a new step on a way to the unattainable purpose - creation of a consistent and complete theory of proper name.
