The concept of "Mother Earth" in the works of Chingiz Aitmatov

Abstract

The article comprehensively examines the artistic and philosophical content of the concept «Жер-Ана» (Mother Earth) in the works of Chingiz Aitmatov. In the writer's work, nature appears not only as an environment, but also as an extensive concept reflecting the spiritual essence of humanity and historical memory. The works «Жан пида» (“The soul victim”) «Қош бол, Гүлсары» (“Goodbye, Gulsary”), «Ақ кеме» (“White ship”), («Ғасырдан да ұзақ күн» (“A day longer than a century” are considered as objects of research. In each of these works, the image of Mother Earth is revealed through various logical models (the source of life, the symbol of justice, the good mother, the bearer of historical memory), demonstrating the writer's humanistic and ecological attitude to nature and the earth. Artistic means of representation, landscape features and semantic fields related to the nature of the characters are also revealed, emphasizing the connection of the concept with the national worldview. The spiritual, philosophical and ecological aspects of the concept of “Mother Earth” are analyzed, and specific examples are given of how the writer's deep humanistic attitude to nature and special respect for the earth are expressed through artistic means. In addition, it examines how semantic fields such as «туған жер» (“native land”), «атақоныс» (“grandfather's settlement”), «ана бейнесі» (“the image of a mother”), «табиғат тылсымы» (“mystery of nature”) are represented in the literary text. The article systematizes the spiritual, philosophical and ecological facets of the concept of Mother Earth, analyzed in the context of a literary text. The results obtained in the article can be used in teaching disciplines related to the meaning of the word in higher education institutions and in research related to the topic.
