Abstract

This article examines the life and talents of the artist Irina Jarema; pe
culiarities of Jarema’s development, her works and its impact on the reac
tualization of Kazak ornament in the Fine Arts of Kazakhstan. Landscape
etchings are one of the most significant cultural events. The work’s lyric
manner is analyzed in the context of Ukrainian art traditions. Analyzing
the personality of the artist, national theme and prominent features of her
creation and the main works, the author reveals the style of the works and
its importance for the development of certain arts and crafts areas.
On the example of Jarema’s works, it reveals some essential charac
teristics of the ornamental system in the art of tapestry. It is shown that
during the 1980s the initial, strictly organized and canonized ornamental
system disintegrated, giving way for individual creation. The ornamental
transformation of tapestries has become an actual creative method in our
time. Evolution of Jarema’s works is examined against the background of
the artistic life of Kazakhstan.
