Epic formulas in Azerbaijan historical-heroic eposes

Abstract

In the article the characteristic features of the formula activity in the Azerbaijan historical-heroic
eposes in the example of the famous folklore monuments such as «The Book of Dede Gorgud» and
«Koroglu» are explained. First of all, the different peculiarities coming from the same activity of the common epos poetics and the concrete epos kind looking through are paid attention. The identities of the
beginning, medial and final formulas used in the eposes «The Book of Dede Gorgud» and «Koroglu» are
discovered in comparison with the traditional and real tale formulas. From the analysis it is come to the
conclusion that the formulas in the historical-heroic eposes attain the special value with the absorption
of the most characteristic historical-poetical layer of the text.
