Lexical peculiarities of Inaugural Addresses of N.A. Nazarbayev

Abstract

The investigation of political discourse of independent Kazakhstan, particularly, the inaugural addresses of the President is one of the most important subjects of modern national political linguistics. The article explains the notion of political discourse and depicts the phenomenon of inaugural address as a self-sufficient genre of political discourse. The paper exposes the results of component analysis of inaugural addresses of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev. The main aim is to identify key lexical peculiarities of the inaugural discourse of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the extent to which the genre belonging influences the choice of lexis and stylistic devices.
