Professional Linguistic Personality of a Lawyer in Modern Kazakhstan: Definition, Specifics, Preparation

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the professional linguistic personality of a legal specialist. The purpose of the article is to identify the features and prospects for the training of lawyers as professional linguistic personalities in the conditions of modern Kazakhstan. This goal is achieved by solving several tasks: a review of the scientific literature on the scientific and methodological basis of the study is carried out, an analysis of socio-cultural factors, educational and language policy of Kazakhstan is carried out. The article applies an integrated approach to the study of the linguistic personality of a modern Kazakhstani lawyer by integrating linguistic cognitive and linguistic rhetorical approaches. Based on the analysis of the educational programs "Jurisprudence" and "Law Enforcement" of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the structure of the lawyer's professional linguistic personality, the specifics of legal discourse and the legal linguistic picture of the world, the expediency of introducing additional disciplines into the training program aimed at improving the level of literacy and speech skills of the future lawyer is substantiated. Special attention is paid to the need to improve the professional competence of lawyers through the development of specialized and linguistic competencies.

It is concluded that the harmonious development of all studied components of a lawyer’s linguistic personality, competencies, professional and personal qualities serves as an indicator of a lawyer’s professionalism. The results of this study contribute to the development of anthropocentric linguistics and can contribute to the harmonization and optimization of the communication process in legal discourse through the training of lawyers as professional linguistic individuals, highly qualified, competitive specialists.
