Abstract

In this paper the concept «woman» is considered an important part of Chinese and Kazakh culture. The specificity of semantic content of the concept is studied by using paremias, which are based on the Kazakh and Chinese dictionaries. The centerpiece of the article covers the study of the concept, based on the analysis of semantic fields: the field of home life, family relations field, and the field of abstract concepts are consequentially described. Observations obtained by regarding the similarities and differences in the organization of the concept of study confirmed the material of Kazakh and Chinese proverbs and sayings. The specificity of functioning of the concept «woman» in the two languages and cultures is associated with the steppe tradition and Confucianism.
