Аннотация

The derivation of adverbs from the nouns, adjectives, numerals, pronouns, verb forms and prepositions in Azerbaijani and English is dealt in the article. The semantic and grammatical changes happening in these newly formed adverbs derived from the above mentioned parts of speech are explained. The ways of formation of adverbs in Azerbaijani and English and the appearance of new semantic changes in these words originated from nouns, adjectives, numerals, pronouns, verbs and prepositions are discussed. It is stressed that adverb is one of the main parts of speech in Azerbaijani and English. It is said that the formation of adverbs from adjectives is larger than any other parts speech. It is related with the closeness of adjectives with adverbs from the semantic and morphological point of view. The similarities and differences of adverbs in Azerbaijani and English are explained. The numerals are shown as one of the main sources of adverb formation. By acquiring the adverbial peculiarities numerals have slight aptness with the adverbs but semantically and turn into circumstantional and quantity adverbs and determine the verbs. Unlike Azerbaijani, prepositions are shown one of the adverb formation sources in English.
