Symbol and metaphorю

Abstract

The area of studying symbol is widening in modern linguistic, especially in Kazakh language study. In purpose of defining the main point, description, the main sign of symbol and its difference from other linguistic phenomenon, we compare it with trops, and especially metaphor and we define their similarities and differences from each other. The main property of a symbol – its figurativeness. For the same reason many researchers define concepts of a symbol through the image. In many definitions the concept "an image – a symbol – a sign" moves forward. In metaphor and symbol studying the main weight passes from philology to sciences closely connected with thinking, knowledge and consciousness. With the help of a metaphor it is possible to see not only a national and specific picture of the world of thinking, but also a basis of a universal image.
