The advantages of using Case study method in the process of teaching a foreign language

Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the most effective techniques of teaching foreign language – the Case study method. This method concludes in itself the use of theoretical and practical skills and their creative approach for the solution of situations created in the artificial way. The method of Case study demands from students skills of independent work and high degree of preparation in a subject. It allows to use knowledge which was gained at the lesson and adapt it in real life situations and to find the most creative solutions. Case study is an interactive method and has positive responses from the students. With the help of the Case study method it is possible to learn such skills as discussion, debate, comparison and expression of thoughts. This paper provides not only positive sides of this method, but also difficulties, which teachers can face. Further are regarded ways of solving these difficulties.
