Aktual problems of textology

Abstract

The article examines the general study of textology, including its subject, goals, and tasks. Having
examined works of various researchers, it was concluded that textology should be studied not only from
a literary perspective, but taking into account linguistic dimensions. The actual problems connected with
textology in the Kazakh linguistics are revealed. Through the analysis of definitions, given textology in
various dictionaries, there placement of the term «textology» with «мәтінтану» [mæ’tintanu] (its literal
translation in to Kazakh) is highlighted.
