Abstract

Kazakh literature has been paid more and more attention since 1991, in which year Kazakhstan has
declared its independence. In the context of globalization, to have a better understanding of Kazakh
literature we need not only to look back into the Kazakh literature before its independence but also
compare it with the literature of other countries. In our passage, we are trying to compare women’s issues in Kazakh and Chinese literature at the beginning of XX century. On one hand, there are so many
similarities of women’s issues between Kazakh and Chinese literature of this period of time, on the other
hand, in spite of the fact that Kazakhstan has shared boundaries with China since ancient times, both
countries know little about the literature of each other. Our comparative study of women’s issues of
Kazakh and Chinese literature shows us that the women of both countries were faced with literally the
same problems at the beginning of the tweentieth century and the expression of the these problems help
us form a clear picture of not only the differences between the literature of Kazakhstan and China but
their cultural differences as well.
