Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the problem of development of intellectual activity of students
in the educational process of the university. The relevance of the study of intellectual activity of students
due to the fact that currently one of the most important aspects of personality is formed productive thinking, based on the possession of stable analytical and synthetic thinking skills. However, the intensive
search for something new in the pedagogical theory and practice of higher education is due to a number
of contradictions, the main of which is the discrepancy between the traditional methods and forms of
education at the University of the current socio-economic conditions of reforming society, which puts
forward a new social order for the formation of a person capable of creative and independent determination of their activities. From the standpoint of this requirement, one of the most relevant areas of research,
as methodical science, and the entire pedagogical process of modern higher educational institutions, is
the need to develop the intellectual activity of students, from which it is expected creative initiative and
purposeful independence. The paper examines such key concepts related to this issue, as the qualification requirements of the European educational space («Dublin descriptors»), characterizing the achievement of a particular level of education: undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies. In addition, the
use of B. Bloom’s taxonomy in the educational process as one of the effective methods for enhancing
students’ mental activity and achieving learning outcomes is analyzed.
