Abstract

This article presents the results of a study of the names of residential complexes of the megalopolis of Kazakhstan, Almaty, in particular, modern trends in the formation of oikodomonyms are revealed. The actual material obtained from the database of construction companies in Almaty such as Basis-A, Nov-ek, RAMS, QazaqStroy, BI-Group, Exclusive, KSS, etc., as well as online maps: 2GIS, Yandex map, Google map and sale sites, consist of transliterated and non-transliterated names. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used during the analysis. The data obtained revealed a certain trend in favor of creating non-transliterated names with positive semantics and with the semantics of “luxury”. This trend exists in parallel with the opposite trend of creating transliterated names in the Kazakh language. Quantitative analysis shows a growing variety of created oikodomonyms. In this regard, it is necessary to note the developing direction – naming, which has rapidly begun to develop in the modern conditions of the expanding market of services and goods (including residential places, apartments, etc.). Key words: proper names, trends, nomination, oikodomonyms, classification.
