Abstract

The article considers the place of rhetoric in the system of communicative education. The author examines rhetoric as an integrative subject that combines linguistic, pedagogical, communicative principles of modern education system. An important thesis is that rhetoric is regarded as the most important philological science that studies the formation of thought and speech, the methods of its construction in all areas of speech activity. Rhetorical competence is a necessary component of the educated personality and professional skills of specialists in the humanities. The author believes that rhetoric should be studied in secondary schools, colleges and universities and justifies her position by using the materials of the curriculum of the discipline. The course of Modern Rhetoric allows pupils and students to learn not only the culture of speech, but also the culture of thinking about the target subject. The curriculum for the discipline «Rhetoric» is aimed at the education and development of multicultural personality, possessing the skills of persuasive speech and communicative language competence. The article stresses the idea that a prerequisite demand of rhetorical knowledge is its practical nature. Theoretical positions of rhetoric should be directed to practical application in the solution of real problems related to human activity.
