Traditional motives in the dastan «Rustam and Sukhrab»

Abstract

The motif of combat of the father and the son can be often met in the folklore of many nations of the world. Many scientists paid attention to this motif which is also found at the beginning to the poem of Firdousi «Shakhnama». At the same time, researchers tell nothing about the typology of events in the dastan «Rustam and Sukhrab» in connection with well-known motives of oriental plots in the Kazakh dastan. The purpose of the author of the present article is to compare the Turkish versions of the work «Sukhrab», the Azerbaijani version of the dastan «Korogly», the plot of the dastan «Dariga-kyz» executed by Zhusupbek Shakhislamov with the content of the work «Rustam and Sukhrab» in order to reveal differences and the originality of the work. It considers such questions as the general motif of the most ancient heritage of the Turkic-Iranian peoples, the structure of ancient monuments, the genre nature, their stadial development, features of art process, literary influence, and cultural ties. We know that the complex problems considered in the present article will interest the literary public and will help researchers with understanding and comprehension of the art nature of works which are based on oriental motives and will give a lot of understanding in the sphere and spiritual traditions.
