Abstract

This article is devoted to a new translation of the epic novel «Abai’s path» by the great Kazakh writer M.O. Auezov, published in 2007, to its peculiarities. The author carefully studies and analyzes various opinions of literary scholars about this translation. The new translation, unlike the previous ones, is more verbose, because in the work on it the translator had more opportunities and freedom to recreate the national identity. In it there are many episodes and details showing the national color, which are not present in the translations made in the Soviet era. Despite the world recognition and wide study of the novel, in the history of its writing, publication, and in many other important historical and theoretical areas, unresolved issues are revealed. A new translation of a famous Russian writer A.A. Kim caused the keen interest of scholars of Abai’s creativity studies, Auezov’s creativity studies and specialists in the field of artistic translation. There appeared a large number of diverse, mutually exclusive articles, responses, reviews of this translation.
