The lexico-semantic meaning of the lexeme «smile» in the Russian language: experience in linguistic expertise

Abstract

This article describes the experience of conducting linguistic expertise on the example of the lexeme
«smile» in Russian. The author conducted a linguistic examination of the «smile» token to clarify the questions: is the word «smile» commonly used or unique, individual, and does this word have an associative connection with services in the field of dentistry? Methods such as lexical-semantic analysis, the method of free
associations, etc. were used for the study. During the examination, the dictionary entries of the word «Smile»
in all explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language, as well as statistical data on the use of the word in the
Frequency Dictionary of the Russian language were reviewed and analyzed. As a result of the examination,
the author concludes that the word «smile» is commonly used and does not refer to vocabulary with a limited
sphere of use and has only an indirect associative connection with services in the field of dentistry.
