The image of «Yalauash» (ambassador) in the work of Yusuf Balasagun «Kutadgu bilig»

Abstract

The article examines the image of «Ialauash», that is the ambassador, who is reflected in the «Kutadgu bilig» of Yusuf Balasagun, writing literature of Karakhan era. The source is a facsimile of the Cairo version of «Kutadgu bilig», along with its transcription in Latin alphabet and semantic translation into Kazakh, compiled by R. R. Arat. In the course of the study, attention was paid to the works of foreign and local scientists. Despite the fact that the main characters of the work are Kuntudy, Aitoldy, Ugdulmish and Odgurmysh, the author is making the essence of the ambassador through their dialogue. The research includes a linguistic, textual, and literary analysis of more than 70 bayites that have glorified this topic. Thus, the character of the ambassador in the work was analyzed: his soul, mind, intellect, sociability, imagery. In addition, the benefits and harms of the ambassador to the state and the significance of the embassy activity are studied, the typical image of the ambassador in the era of the Karakhans is revealed in details. The results obtained during the research firstly show the level diplomacy developed in the Karakhan state, and secondly, the image of those who held this position. Third, it reflects the mindset of that era. Fourth, it shows the level at which the method of image construction developed in the literature of the Middle Ages. The image of the ambassador, embodied in the work of Yusuf, can be used in the assessment of history and in the creation of films and cartoons based on historical data.
