Abstract

This article will examine the terms of address used by the prominent political figure Alikhan Bukeikhan in the early 20th century from the perspective of political discourse. Recently, linguistics has increasingly focused on the study of political discourse. Research in this area primarily concentrates on analyzing the language of political figures. This approach allows for an exploration of the role of language in political life, how changes in the country's circumstances are reflected in the language, its usage, and development during specific periods, as well as the distinctive features of individual politicians' language. The significance of studying the language of the alash intellectual Alikhan Bukeikhan, an influential politician and prominent figure who made a substantial contribution to the development of the Kazakh literary language, lies in his unique contribution. Creating a linguistic portrait of a person who initiated national liberation, mobilized the intelligentsia for the development and flourishing of science and education, and made a significant impact on the country's development is of utmost importance. The Alash period of the early 20th century was crucial for the establishment of the Kazakh language as a language of science and politics. The alash intelligentsia of that time played a key role in the development of functional styles of the national literary language. The main goal of the research is to determine how the Kazakh language was used in political discourse and the role of terms of address within it by analyzing the language of the prominent political figure A. Bukeikhan, who was the leader of the national intelligentsia during that period.

Key words: Alikhan Bokeikhan, alash, appeals, political discourse, political communication, discourse analysis, political portrait.
