Abstract

This article considers the main problems of ethnolinguistics. The research is aimed at the study of the significance of ethnolinguistics from the scientific point of view, to define its current role in the science. Ethnolinguistics is a new branch of linguistics which arose as a result of ethnos study by means of language. In this science the special attention is given to such concepts as ethnos, the ethnos world, ethnos being, ethnos language. Object of research of ethnolinguistics is to study national image of ethnos, the nature through richness of language. On this basis theories of scientists which study idea of ethnolinguistics from different sides and different levels are considered. The points of view about concept of ethnolinguistics of foreign scientists as W. von Gumboltd, V. Vundt, G. Schuhardt, F. De Saussure, Baudouin de Courtene, E. Sepir and Russian scientists as N.I. Tolstoy, V.N. Toporov, V.V. Ivanov, A.F. Zhuravlev, A. Kaydarov, M. Kopylenko are described in brief.
