The nature of epic genres

Abstract

This article discusses the types of epic genres and their differences from other genres. The types of
epic genres are classified according to the classification provided by the academician Z. Kabdolov, who
revealed small, medium and large sizes of epos. This classification analyzes the epic genres not only in
volume, but also, most importantly, on coverage of the realities of life and characteristics.
The article notes one of the features of the epic genre, which implies the usage of the method of
narration of the realities of life, events, and it also identifies the similarities and differences between the
types of epic genres, such as: legend, fairy tale, fable, essay, story, novel, heroic epic, dastan, poem,
narrative, novel and epic novel. In addition, the article provides the opinions and views of scientists on
the types of epic genres and their characteristics, as well as examples from the works of national classical
writers on similarity and difference, as well as the peculiarities of the types of epic genres.
