Historical meaning of measure devoted to «Manas» Epos celebration taken place in China in 1917

Abstract

The Epic of «Manas» is the significant great spiritual heritage of Kyrgyz people. Masterpiece that was
created many thousands years ago but nowadays it hasn’t lost its significance and has a great meaning
for modern society. Proverb says the place «Manas» sounds the Kyrgyz people are and where the Kyrgyz
people the «Manas» Epos sounds. In the People’s Republic of China the contest of «Manas» singers took
place that gathered a quarter of millions of Kyrgyz people living in China. In the present article historical
facts of Aityshuu celebration devoted to the great Manas taken place in China in Kyrgyz Autonomy of
Akchiy, Karachiy province in 1917 are presented. The historical materials of this celebration are given in
the article and the famous Manas scientist Zhusup Mamay who made a great contribution to the studying
of phenomena «Manas» Epos.
