Abstract

The article examines surrealist works written in contemporary Kazakh prose. The analyzed prose samples reveal a striving for new writing techniques, a broad thematic scope, linguistic and structural mastery, individuality, an exploration of the human soul, and the unveiling of the mysteries of existence through national values. The objects of the study include the novella "The Kipchak Maiden" by Mukhtar Magauin, which, through the character of Sargan, explores the difficulties of becoming an outstanding figure in national art. The work "Tұtqyn" by Roza Mukanova, where the main character is an artist who considers himself a genius and experiences hallucinatory moments. The short story "Qylburau" by Talaptan Akhmetzhanov, in which the psychology of the characters is conveyed through dreams and visions. The work "Writer’s Notes" by Almaz Myrzakhmet, which examines mystical elements and enigmatic events that connect the real world with the character’s inner world. The short story "The Stranger" by Qolganat Murat, where the protagonist’s detachment from time and space becomes the central theme. The novel "Fear in the Big House" by Saule Doszhan, which, through the character of Arslan, reveals the history of immoral individuals who have crossed the boundaries of decency. The aim of the scientific research is to identify surrealist works in 21st-century prose, conduct a detailed study of their linguistic features, artistic explorations in ideological and aesthetic aspects, and develop a comprehensive methodological system of analysis. The study determines the specifics of surrealist works, emphasizing the depiction of societal crises through the characters' dreams and visions, introducing a sense of anxiety and fear into the reader’s consciousness.
